A great movie can stay with you long after you walk out of the movie theater or turn off the DVD player. Plenty of movies have been made about education that have inspired students and educators to achieve more than they thought they could. Will Hunting, played by Matt Damon, is a janitor at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Turns out that Will happens to be a mathematical genius, capable of solving just about any equation. Will’s genius is discovered by a professor, but he is torn between his working class Boston roots and the unfamiliar world of MIT. Eventually Will meets with a psychologist, played by Robin Williams, and begins to the difficult work of sorting through his personal issues.

He starts off his education at Holy Cross and eventually matriculates to Notre Dame after getting rejected multiple times. He spends his time on the practice team, but eventually reaches his dream of playing for Notre Dame. The movie is based on the true story of Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger. The movie stars Sean Astin as Rudy.

The Blindside is a movie based on the book of the same name. The movie follows the life of Michael Oher and his evolution from shy, poverty stricken product of the ghetto to college graduate and first round NFL draft pick. Oher is taken in by the wealthy Touhy family and is nurtured like one of their own. The hard-nosed, but loving Leigh Anne Touhy takes Michael into her own and adopt him despite ridicule, suspicion and even an NCAA investigation. The story is based on the life of Baltimore Ravens football player Michael Oher. The motion picture garnered the Oscar for best actress for Sandra Bullock, and was also nominated for best picture.
